Biography

Publication list

Pavel Vácha earned his master's degree in 2003 from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. In 2011, he was awarded the academic titles RNDr. and Ph.D. by the same faculty, in collaboration with the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

His research interests include content-based image retrieval, illumination invariants, scale-dependent texture analysis, bidirectional texture functions, Markovian models, and classification. He has participated in several Czech and European research projects.

Pavel Vácha received second place at the 2008 Summer School on Image Processing (TU Wien), was awarded the Antonín Svoboda Award by the Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics in 2012, and was a finalist for the ERCIM Cor Baayen Award in 2013.

Try demonstrations utilising our novel textural features that are invariant to change of illumination colour, cast shadows, and texture rotation; moreover, they are robust to illumination direction and degradation by Gaussian noise.
