Biography

Publication list

Jiri Filip obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in cybernetics from the Czech Technical University in Prague in 2002 and 2006. Since 2002 he has been a researcher at the Institute of Information Theory and Automation (UTIA) at the Czech Academy of Sciences. Between 2007-2009 he did a postdoc as a Marie-Curie research fellow at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. He was awarded the Oto Wichterle Award for young researchers (2010) and was part of the team awarded the Award of the Czech Academy of Sciences for outstanding results of great scientific significance (2011). He was a principal investigator in eight national and European grants, coauthored a book on Visual Texture, and has over 90 research publications and tutorials. His research encompasses all aspects of material appearance, integrating methods from image capture and processing, computer graphics, and perceptual analysis at the intersection of academia and industry.
