Karel Sladký passed away

With sorrow, we announce that on July 12, our dear colleague Ing. Karel Sladký, CSc., from the Department of Econometrics, passed away at the age of 84. He worked at the Institute of Information Theory and Automation (ÚTIA) for more than half a century and made a significant contribution to its history. He will be remembered by all of us as an exceptionally meticulous and hardworking editor of the institute's international journal Kybernetika, which he significantly elevated through his dedicated efforts. He held this position for nearly 30 years. In the scientific part of his work, he focused mainly on stochastic dynamic programming and Markov decision processes. Toward the end of his career, he was appointed Emeritus Researcher of ÚTIA in recognition of his contributions to the development of the institute.

In Karel Sladký, we have lost a devoted and kind colleague who left an indelible mark on the institute.
