1/12/2026 AI for Doctoral Students
Under the auspices of the AV21 Strategy “AI: Artificial Intelligence for Science and Society”, a full-day training focused on the use of artificial intelligence in doctoral studies and research took place on 12 January 2026 during an off-site workshop of Silesian University in Opava.

The training was led by doc. RNDr. Barbara Zitová, Ph.D. from UTIA CAS, Department of Image Processing, and was held as part of this year’s three-day workshop for doctoral students. The programme was structured into two consecutive parts: the morning theoretical session introduced the possibilities and limitations of current AI approaches in scientific work, followed by an afternoon practical session focused on concrete ways of using AI tools in research tasks and in the everyday work of doctoral researchers.
The event contributed to the development of young researchers’ competencies and opened a discussion on how to integrate artificial intelligence into research workflows effectively and responsibly.
