11/12-14/2025 Success of Open Science students collaborating with ÚTIA

From 12 to 14 November 2025, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Národní 3, Prague) hosted the Open Science student conference, where young researchers presented the results of their year-long internships.

Nearly two hundred talented high-school students took part in the event, showcasing their projects over three days to expert committees and the general public.

Students collaborating with ÚTIA also achieved excellent results:

  • Michal Glasnák, Samuel Vacek and David Bojko won 2nd place for their internship project “Analysis of Conspiracy and Disinformation Narratives Using Bayesian Networks”, supervised by Jiří Vomlel from ÚTIA.

  • Vojtěch Hoffmann was awarded 3rd place for his internship “Methods for Multimodal Data Analysis”, supervised by Evženie Uglickich from ÚTIA.

This year’s internships covered a wide range of disciplines — from physics, mathematics and computer science to biology, medicine, the humanities and social sciences. The jury praised the exceptionally high quality of the contributions, noting that selecting the top three was particularly challenging.

At the opening of the conference, the President of the Academy of Sciences, Radomír Pánek, highlighted the students’ commitment to dedicating hundreds of hours to scientific work. “This work opens the path to knowledge and to the future,” he said.

We extend our thanks to all ÚTIA mentors and supervisors for their support and congratulate the students on their fantastic achievements. These internships are a vital way of connecting young people with research — and results like these clearly show their value.
