Vědecké zájmy: Všechny aspekty zpracování obrazu, počítačového vidění a AI, se zaměřením na vyhledávání obrazů a videí, forenzní analýzu a detekci a rozpoznávání v podmínkách s velmi malým množstvím dat.

Babak získal titul Ing. v oboru informatika na Západočeské univerzitě v Plzni, Česká republika, a titul Ph.D. na Českém vysokém učení technickém v Praze, Česká republika, v roce 2008. V letech 2008 až 2010 působil jako postdoktorand v Ústavu teorie informace a automatizace Akademie věd České republiky. Byl oceněn několika prestižními cenami, včetně New York Next Idea Award (2011), České hlavy (kategorie Industrie, 2011) a Ceny Otto Wichterleho.
