Pavel Vácha získal magisterský titul v roce 2003 na Matematicko-fyzikální fakultě Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. V roce 2011 mu byly uděleny akademické tituly RNDr. a Ph.D. stejnou fakultou ve spolupráci s Ústavem teorie informace a automatizace Akademie věd ČR.
Mezi jeho výzkumné zájmy patří vyhledávání obrázků podle obsahu, invarianty osvětlení, analýza textur v závislosti na měřítku, obousměrné texturní funkce, Markovovské modely a klasifikace. Podílel se na několika českých a evropských výzkumných projektech.
Pavel Vácha získal druhé místo na Letní škole zpracování obrazu 2008 (TU Wien), v roce 2012 získal Cenu Antonína Svobody od České společnosti pro kybernetiku a informatiku a v roce 2013 byl finalistou ceny ERCIM Cor Baayen.
Vyzkoušej demonstrace, které využívají našich nových texturních příznaků, které jsou invariantní k změně barvy osvětlení, vrženým stínům, rotaci textury; dále jsou robustní k změně směru osvětlení a degradaci Gaussovským šumem.
